Bridges by Books

What is Bridges by Books ?

Bridges by books is a local program that helps high risk youth who have been detained or sentenced under the Youth Criminal Justice Act in Ontario by improving their access to books that are given by donations of individuals and organizations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide young offenders the proper reading materials to break down barriers and assist them in building the bridge between themselves and the community upon their release so they could be contributing members of society

Goals Of Our Program

Distribute books to young offenders in a secured detention/custody facility to
  • Increase literacy skills for high risk youth
  • Have access to proper reading material
  • Keep young minds occupied with positive books
  • Connect youth to their cultural heritage through books

As  a proud supporter of Every Child Matters,

Bridges By Books stands in solidarity with Indigenous communities to raise awareness of the atrocities committed against Indigenous youth, and the ongoing trauma caused by residential schools.
